Prof. Feld article on the rise of violent crime arrests among girls

We encourage those interested in the topic of Prof. Feld's lecture on girls in the juvenile justice system to read this article. The topic is the rise of violent crime arrests among adolescent girls. Prof. Feld offers the theory that this rise is a result of changing attitudes that disproportionately affect females, not a radical shift in how many violent acts girls are committing.

Kickoff event!

We're excited to announce our inaugural event!

Please join us in the Lindquist & Vennum Conference Room (in the Dean's third-floor office suite) on Tuesday, November 16 at 5PM.  We will present a brief introduction of our group and its purposes.  Immediately following the opening remarks, we will provide a short opportunity for students and faculty members to converse and enjoy refreshments.

The main event is a screening of Liz Arbus's documentary Girlhood.  University of Minnesota Centennial Professor Barry C. Feld will share some thoughts about the film and on the general topic of adolescent girls in the criminal justice system.

We hope to see many law students and faculty members at the event!  Please RSVP to mnjusticeleague@gmail.com if you will be attending.

Website Update!

Hey everyone, I'm letting you all know that the website is pretty close to done!  I've got a couple of questions about the changes I've made, so we'll definitely have a bit of discussion material for tomorrow's meeting.
